In an age where paper’s role in daily life, both functionally and artistically, continues to fade, the “Looks Good on Paper…” exhibition invites viewers to reconsider one of art’s most fundamental and versatile materials. The exhibition at The Propeller Art Gallery brings together 48 works that explore paper not as a passive surface, but as an active, expressive medium in its own right.
Artists were invited to celebrate the diverse and often unsung creative potential of paper, choosing their materials thoughtfully to enhance and inform each piece. The result is a show that spans a wide range of techniques and interpretations, from delicate, traditional handling of paper to bold, experimental approaches that push the medium into unexpected territory.
Each selected work reflects exceptional craftsmanship and genuine curiosity about what paper can do and become. Together through this group exhibition, artists celebrate the richness of paper as an artistic material and highlight that many inventive ways contemporary artists are redefining its possibilities. Proving that paper remains a vital and vibrant medium for creative expression, even in this modern era.

Among the selected artists, artist QR contributed to this exhibition with his original piece ‘In Motion,’ which treats paper not as a passive surface but as an active threshold between stillness and transformation. QR pushes the paper material further with the embedding of a QR code within the artwork, merging their distinctive art style with digital technology to turn the paper from a static object into a site of activation. When scanned, the still image of a horse and figure springs to life as a galloping form, making the viewer’s own engagement the catalyst that completes the piece. Through the fusion of physical and augmented reality elements, ‘In Motion’ offers an original exploration of paper’s capacity to hold, conceal, and ultimately release movement. Positioning it as both a material and a mechanism, and offering a quiet meditation on agency and intentional action.
